About online business administration degrees

Business administration covers how organizations are run: strategy, operations, people, finance, marketing and the decisions that connect them. Online, it is offered as broad bachelor's degrees (BBA, BSc Business Management, BS Business Administration), as the MBA and Executive MBA, and as master's degrees in management.

Because the field is broad, programs differ most in structure: how many core modules are compulsory, whether specializations are offered, how much live teaching there is, and whether there are residential weeks or a capstone on campus.

Bachelor's, master's and doctoral pathways

Bachelor's

Bachelor's degrees give a general foundation across business functions. Some are full degrees open to school leavers; others are top-up or completion routes for applicants who already hold a diploma, HND or a set number of credits.

Master's

The MBA is a general management degree, usually for applicants with work experience; an Executive MBA typically expects more seniority. A master's in management or a specialized master's is narrower and often open to recent graduates.

83 listed: 83 dedicated, 0 concentrations

Doctoral

Doctoral study in business administration is offered as the PhD (a research doctorate aimed at original scholarly contribution) and the DBA (a professional doctorate applying research to practice). They are listed separately here.

Dedicated degrees and concentrations

Every MBA, BBA and general management degree is a dedicated business administration degree. Specializations inside them — for example an MBA with a finance or marketing pathway — appear on the subject pages for those specializations, labelled as concentrations.

Admission differences to check

  • GMAT or GRE policies vary: required, optional, waived on conditions, or not used at all. Unknown is shown as not verified, not as “not required”.
  • English-language requirements (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and others) and their waivers are listed per program.
  • Among listed programs, 0 publish a required GMAT/GRE and 44 publish it as optional, waivable or not required; 36 require work experience. The rest do not state it.
